Rave magazine – pop music covers from 1971
Rave started as the 'music magazine where it was all happening'. It later covered fashion and film stars – the Great Escape and Bullitt actor Steve McQueen was a popular subject – but was merged into the teen weekly Fabulous 208, a sister Newnes title, in 1971. The music magazine sector is fickle, with sales rising and falling with the popularity of bands and the latest trend.
